“द्रौपदी- महाभारत की अप्रतिम योद्धा”

द्रौपदी, यकीनन महाग्रंथ-महाभारत की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण नारी ! उनसे हमें क्या शिक्षा मिलती है ? – “अपने सम्मान के लिए डट के खड़े रहना।”

द्रौपदी, महान राजा व मंत्रियों-दिग्गजों की सभा में बलात् खींच के लाई गई, वहां द्रौपदी के पांच पति : पान्डव व उनके भाई : कौरवों के बीच जुए का खेल हुआ था । ज्येष्ठ पांडव युधिष्ठिर ने द्रौपदी को दाव पर लगाया और उनको हार गए। ज्येष्ठ कौरव, दुर्योधन ने अपने प्रिय अनुज दुःशासन को आदेश दिया कि वह द्रौपदी को उसके केशों से पकड़ बलात् उस द्यूत-सभा में खींच लाए और उसका चीरहरण करे। जब सभा में उपस्थित सभी लोग व उनके पति उनकी सहायता करने में असफल हुए तब द्रौपदी ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण से सहायता प्राप्ती की प्रार्थना की। जैसे-जैसे दुःशासन के अधर्मी हाथ उनकी साड़ी खींचने का अपराध कर रहे थे, वैसे-वैसे भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की माया से उनकी साड़ी का कपड़ा खत्म होने का नाम ही नहीं ले रहा था।

उस सभा में असहाय द्रौपदी ने अपने सम्मान के लिए आवाज़ उठाई। जहां उनके पांचों पति अथवा सभी बुज़ुर्गों ने उनकी सहायता करना ठीक न समझा, वहां उन्होंने अपने लिए आवाज़ उठाई। उनके पति भीम ने प्रण लिया कि वे दुःशासन की छाती चीरेंगे, तब द्रौपदी ने भी प्रण लिया कि तब तक वे भी अपने केश नहीं बांधेगी । और जब भीम अपना प्रण पूरा करेंगे तब वो दुःशासन के रक्त से अपने बाल धोयेंगी ।
यह दृश्य हमें क्या शिक्षा देता है ?
यह युद्ध को प्रोत्साहन देना नहीं हुआ, अपितु यह अन्याय के विरुद्ध अपनी आवाज़ उठाना हुआ । यह तो सोचिए कि यदि द्रौपदी ने उस समय अपनी आवाज़ न उठाई होती तो क्या होता ? कदाचित अधर्म की जीत होती।

द्रौपदी पांडवों की सबसे अधिक शक्तिशाली शस्त्र थी । वह प्रतिदिन पांडवों को याद दिलाती रही कि उनके साथ कितना बड़ा अन्याय हुआ है ।

महाभारत के युद्ध में सबसे वास्तविक योद्धा द्रौपदी थी, बिना कवच की अप्रतिम योद्धा ! अन्याय के विरुद्ध खड़े रहना सरल ना था। नर्क-यातना सी हर पल असहनीय पीड़ा ! उनकी अंतरात्मा छलनी थी परन्तु चरित्र अभेद्य। जीवन के लगभग हर क्षण में उनको कइयों ने अपमानित किया, परन्तु फिर भी वो हतोत्साहित नहीं हुईं अपितु और ससक्त हुईं।

ससक्त नारी होने पर उन्होंने कभी शर्मिंदगी महसूस नहीं की – अपने मज़बूत इरादों के लिए कभी क्षमा नहीं मांगी । उन्हें पता था वो गलत नहीं हैं । उन्हें पता था कि अधर्म के विरुद्ध खड़ा होना गलत नहीं । असहाय सी लगती द्रौपदी इतनी भी असहाय न थीं ।

अन्याय के विरुद्ध आवाज़ उठाओ !
अधर्म के विरुद्ध आवाज़ उठाओ !
अपने लिए आवाज़ उठाओ !

A Myth about the Epic Mahabharata – Part 5

“Draupadi- An Awesome Warrior of Epic Mahabharata”

Draupadi, indeed the most important female in the epic Mahabharata. And what do we learn from her? “Standing up for ourselves.”

Draupadi was dragged in the assembly of all the great kings and ministers where a match of gambling was taking place between her five husbands : the Pandavas and their brothers : Kauravas. The eldest Pandava : Yudhishthira put Draupadi at stake and lost her. The Eldest Kaurava : Duryodhana ordered his younger brother : Dushashana to drag Draupadi by holding her hair and to bring her in the assembly and then once again ordered him to disrobe her. When her husbands and everyone else, failed to help her out, she prayed to Lord Krishna. As Dushashana continued to unwrap her layers of the saaree, Lord Krishna miraculously protected her and amount of fabric never lessened.

In that assembly helpless Draupadi stood for herself. Where her husbands and the elderlies, who were present in the assembly, failed to help her she took her own stand. Her husband Bhima vowed to tear Dushashana’s chest apart and Draupadi vowed to never tie her hair until the day Bhima would complete his promise. And when he would complete his promise, she would wash her hair with Dushashana’s blood.

What does this situation tells us ?
Not to encourage war but to stand up for yourself. Now imagine what would be the situation if Draupadi had let go this whole event. Adharma would have won !

Draupadi was the Pandavas’s strongest and the greatest weapon. Draupadi reminded the Pandvas everyday about the Adharma happened not only to her but to the Pandavas too.

In the epic Mahabharata the real warrior was Draupadi, an awesome warrior without an armour. Fighting against wrong isn’t easy. It’s a hell of a journey. She was a bruised soul with a bullet-proof character. At almost every point of time many tried to insult her but she didn’t get discouraged rather became stronger.
She never appologised for being a strong woman. She knew she wasn’t wrong. She knew standing up against all the wrong deeds wasn’t wrong. She knew standing up against Adharma wasn’t wrong.
Seemed like helpless Draupadi wasn’t so helpless anymore.
